A yet to be identified male victim is currently receiving treatment in a battle to save his life after sustaining a severe injury during a clash between two rival cult groups, in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State.
It was learned that the victim was injured at Oteri community in clash alleging a brow between Eiye and Maphite cult groups.
Though the report was sketchy, sources alleged that the clash was as a result of one of the rivals having an affair with a female companion.
It would be recalled that few weeks ago two brothers, from different cult groups had a battle of who becomes the CSO of their community lands in Agbarha-Otor community, as one Calypso was arrested during the melee.
A source disclosed that “Trouble started from a conflict between a Maphite member and a non-cultist over a girl and non-cultist involved his brother, who is an Eiye member.
According to the source, “Though, we could not ascertained the identity of the injured victim but some claimed he is a non cultist while others said he is a cultist also.
“The leadership of Oteri-Ughelli community are currently on the incident, mediating peace between both parties as we hoping peace to both confraternity in the area.
Though it was not confirmed by reporters, as calls to the President General were not connected.
The recent cult clash is one among many others in recent times as after the recent one after the clash in Agbarha between two brothers from different confraternity, Vikings and Eiye also had issues at the Otovwodo Iwhreovie axis of Ughelli.
Cult related clashes and killings has become a reoccurring norm in Ughelli North despite the various security meetings being held with various leaders.
The Ughelli Area Commander, ACP Ademola Adebayo, had at various point in times held several security meeting with the attendance of the Ughelli North Local Government Council Chairman, in ensuring that peace reign in the local government.
